Zendaya: The Youngest Female to Win The Best Lead Actress Award

Her critically acclaimed TV show, Euphoria, is being hailed as one of the best drama series in recent memory.

The 2020 Emmys were held on September 20th and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. One of the biggest surprises of the night was Zendaya’s big win. She starred on the TV series “Euphoria” which is a teen drama show about a group of high school students and their experience with love, friendships, and identity. “I think Euphoria taught me a lot about myself. It made me more confident in my own abilities, because I doubted myself a lot.” Zendaya says in an interview with Elle. Zendaya, who is known for her work in Shake It Up and Spiderman: Far From Home, was nominated along with beloved actresses such as Jennifer Aniston, a Golden Globe winner, and Olivia Coleman, an Academy Award Winner, and clearly didn’t think she had a shot to win this award as she said “I’m so nervous” before accepting the award in front of her teary-eyed family. During her acceptance speech, she thanked her Euphoria crew, the women nominated for the category along with her, and her peers in the industry. She states “I just want to say there is hope in the young people out there”. Zendaya continues to be an inspiration for young girls as she becomes the youngest female to ever win the Best Lead Actress Award at 24 years old. Her breathtaking acting in Euphoria was clearly appreciated as the show was renewed for a second season.
